This week has been all about Cristiano Ronaldo and his groundbreaking interview with Piers Morgan. The Portugal legend bore it all in that interview and had words for everybody. Including – and perhaps especially – his current employers, Manchester United.
That prompted us to look at times when football players have spoken against their clubs while still under contract. Let’s dive right in.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo
Of course, we start with this one. The whole thing is still unraveling and we await what action Manchester United will take. Already, the club released a statement saying that appropriate steps have been initiated in response to the Ronaldo interview. Many think that the Portugal national team captain will have his contract terminated and maybe even get sued by the club.
